The beautiful stretch of coastline at Slapton in Devon is a favourite of ours and the deep oranges of the pebbles and the green of the seas never fails to take an impressive and colourful image.

This image seems to be having a profound effect on many of it viewers. I have been contacted by two people since I posted it informing me that it had moved them to write a poem based on it.

Firstly a fellow blogger wrote a beautiful poem about individuality which you can read by clicking the link to her blog here:

One in a Billion

Then this week I was contacted by a very good friend (and talented poet) who said that this image had inspired her to put pen to paper also. Here poem is shown below.

Thanks to both for their efforts.

Slapton Sands

Receipt of a beautiful frame,
Inspires words to reflect the same,
Simplicity speaks with profound,
Leaving the breath with astound.

Colours define nature’s seam,
Like artery veins running to a dream,
Lead to an unseen focal point,
Colour and nature splash to joint.

Every pebble is fine in distinct,
Laying value of intrinsic succinct,
Holding on to what it must be,
Static moments, retrieve of glee.

Basking under a monochrome sky,
Awaiting the wash of a rolling tide,
Peaceful foam to sway each bathe,
Glistening hopes under a mist of sage.

The art of nature holds no shame,
Captured light and colour of frame,
For every pebble knows its name,
Embedded firm to silence when lame.

Slapton Sands, a send from Devon,
Picturesque shot of moments in heaven.
